A Study On Attribute-Adjective Construction Used As Subject Or Object

The paper tries to make a full exploration of attribute-adjective construction when it is used as subject or object in Chinese. And it aims to reveal the typical features of this structure and its inner demands in local contexts.The paper can be divided into five parts:I. The types and characteristics of attributes of the attribute-adjective construction . This part studies the attributive features from three aspects: the attribute types, comparison between various attributes in quantity and attribute order when attribute is over one piece.II. The choice of attribute-adjective construction to adjectives. In this part we discover that the frequency of different types of adjectives (attribute adjectives, state adjectives and non-predicate adjectives) to be used in attribute-adjective construction is not the same.III. The verbs used with attribute-adjective construction. Besides some dynamic verbs, it is mainly stative verbs that accompany the structure.IV. The semantic probe of attribute-adjective construction. It studies the semantic requirements of this structure when it is used as subject or object.V. The discussion of the pragmatic function of the structure and the nature of adjectives. The structure chiefly has three functions: briefness, emphasis and increasing the flexibility and indication function of Chinese. And we think the nature of adjectives in the structure does not change.In the conclusion we briefly talk about some ideas on the study of the subject.
