The adjective in Chinese language is a controversial category. Linguists have disagreed on the main function of adjective. Generally most admitted that as a word category paralleled with noun and verb, adjective have its own syntactic function, which can be attribute and predicate in a sentence. What we want to make clear is the relationship between attribute and predicate. This dissertation reviewing the happened language resources of monosyllabic adjective using diachronic eyesight, attempts to argument the issue what make for the essential characteristic of adjective and consummate the language word category and grammar system.
