In the period of Taiping heavenly kingdom, being extremely serious of overstepping and attacking of the gentry' authority, besides the Qing government gave all-out to draw gentry over to its side, the gentry of Jiangxi harbored resentment to Taiping arm widespread. Incorporation and resisting from gentry was the important reason of Taiping arm 'failure in Jiangxi. With the changes of a series of historical conditions. Before the Xinhai revolution, the gentry of Jiangxi became divided. In the period of Xinhai revolution, the gentry being different levels had different feelings and behavial patterns. In general, they pushed on the course of Xinhai revolution in Jiangxi. From the perspective of the mutual effect between the gentry of Jiangxi and the twice radial social changes, we can find, after the Taiping heavenly kingdom, owing to the accumulating of the gentry of Jiangxi'power during the course of resisting the Taiping arm, Jiangxi witnessed the situation of expanding of the gentry' authority. In contrast, the Xinhai social reform quicken the metabolism of the traditional elite. At the same time, because of the limitation of gentry exposed in the twice radical social changes, Jiangxi hadn't set up his own force to keep the initiative in his own hands. Therefore , Jiangxi became being controlled by the warlord of another province twice, which was the important reason leading to the lagging of Jiangxi in the modern history.
