The society during Sui.Tang and Five Dynasties is always regardedas a prosperous' open and free socicty, especially Tang Dynasty In thisperiods, the status of women was relatively high and the restrains ofwomen confucianism is relatively loosc. WOmen could freely join in avariety of sociaI activities. Thus, by comparison with womcn in otherlatter medieval dynasties, they looked like particularly pretty. lovely.confident. independent and bravery This social fashion had greateffect on the different levels of womcn groups from the bottom. Womengroups frOm the bottom took up the overwhelming majority of womenin the society Thcy included ordinary womcn including laboringwomen' wives of the traders. the wivcs of the soldicrs of that time;prostitutes' groups, including official prostitutes. private househoIdprostitutes; maids' group including the official maids and householdmaids.Therefore, thc articlc mainly rescarch the social lifc about thedifferent IevcIs of women groups from the bottom, trying to use thcmethod of the Gcnder theory. From the visual angle of Gendcn thccontents included their simple daily lifc, such as clothes. food. housingand transportation; their harmonious family life including theirmarriage and their independent social assembly; their respective anddifferent fOrtunes; their farming labour or social economic activities ofproduction etc. As the whole, womcn groups frOm the bottom all lcdhard and miserable lifc. They were aIways Iack of fOod and cIothes.What is more, thcy must take on a large number of heaVy taxes.Howeverl on the contrary, women groups from the bottom also ledanother characteristic life. According to the govcrnment's policy, "biezhaifu" experiencedthc process going on frOm being severeIy forbiddcn to being accepted.In addition, tbc social lifc of maids' groups in the socicty had alwayshecn ingored by the scholars fOr a long time. In the articlc, the authorindicated the hard daiIy life of the maids' groups;their miserabIcfOrtune, etc. At last, many changes had happcned in the society duringthe transition from Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty. According to thesituation, many changes in thc social life of womcn groups frOm thebottom had also significantIy happencd. These changes had deeplycffect on sociaI life of womcn in the Song Dynasty and latter dynasties.
