A Research On The Prepositionization Of Chinese Verbs

The prepositionization of verbs means that the verbs are transformed into the prepositions.The reason why a verb has different parts of speech is that most of the prepositions originate from the transformation of the verbs.It is impossible to explain the synchronic phenomenon without diachronic factors.Therefore, the research on the prepositionization is of great importance.Based on the previous information of the prepositionization ,this paper took the monosyllabic prepositions from eight hundred verbs of contemporary Chinese as subjects and traced the process and the reason for prepositionization of the verbs from such angles as syntax,semantics, cognition and pragmatics.What is more,it concerned the value of the research and the problems arising in the course of the research.
