A Study On The Information Technology Term In Common Use Based On The Dynamic Circulation Corpus

The development of the new words in modem Chinese has manifested several tendencies, one of which is that the technical terms in the professional field filtered into the common-word category. At present the study on this phenomenon is of great importance.This thesis chooses the information technology term in common use as the beginning of the study on the characteristics of the technical terms used in daily life. The study lays its foundation on the achievements of the dynamic circulation corpus, which holds about half billion words. It makes the attempt to use the tool of the statistics analyzing software to probe into the features of technical terms, which have been acquainted with ordinary people.The thesis collects 137 information technology terms from the Modern Chinese Dictionary. It also gathers the data of the term characteristics description including frequency, the number of the texts where the terms appear and the circulation degree from the dynamic circulation corpus. Then it applies the method of linear regression of the statistics analysing tool to acquiring the functions between those three feature description values with regard to their relationships. Those functions can be used to picture the commonness of those information technology terms, which has been assimilated by the national common words category.The thesis has utilized the Information Technology Technical Terms Dictionary to validate the availability of the acquired relationship functions. On the basis of those functions it screens out the information technology technical terms filtering into the common-word category in the year of 2001 and 2002 from the above dictionary.Then it establishes an appraising system based on the relationship functions and the dynamic circulation corpus to value the possibilities of filtering into the common-word category of the input information technology technical words.In relation to the study of technical term used in common-word category, the thesis has first used the relationship function to dig the commonness of the term already used by ordinary people. The results of the study prove that the method applied in this thesis is of scientific elements.
