The Li nationality in Hainan, which is one of the great nationalities family of our country, mainly lives in Hainan islands. In history, inhabitants in Hainan have engendered their own culture. The peculiar culture of Li nationality came into being as those inhabitants assimilated gradually by the immigrants from the inland and as the result of the rule of the central government. Those ruling measures adopted by the Han dynasty and then on advanced or blocked the development of the Li nationality impersonally, which offers abundant experiences and lessons for our policy dealing with the minority nationalities. The Qing Dynasty, which is the last feudal regime of China, developed and perfected the ruling policies of the Li nationality on the basis of its predecessors'. It led to the further assimilation of them. Owing to the restriction of its czarism, the Qing Dynasty still can not solve the issue of the development of the Li nationality and even blocked their development in some way. This paper probes into the ruling policies and its influences of the Qing Dynasty on the basis of the analysis of the Li Insurgence, sums up its experiences and lessons, and comes to the conclusion that the nationality equality, the nationality solidification and the nationality co-prosperity can only be fulfilled by developing the polity, economy and culture of the minority nationalities vigorously and constantly.
