The Main Cohesive Device Of Chinese Discourse And Errors By Foreign Students

Lexical cohesion, cohesion of sentence pattern, cohesion of rhetoric figure and parataxis cohesion are the main cohesive device of Chinese discourse. However, according to our investigation and statistics, discourse cohesive error of the foreign students distribute unbalancely, focusing on conjunction reference and ellipsis. The reasons of error include the following: the interference between language, the interference of learning strategy, the fault of teaching and the unsufficiency of teaching material. So we put forward four proposals to improve discourse teaching: 1) permeability strategy; 2) advance gradually and make the key points stand out; 3) junction of sentence cluster; 4) practice from simple to complicated.
