Literature was given special ideological function during the Seventeen Years (1949-1966), which is typically characterized in revolution historical novel. But even this is the case, this type of novel still takes in a lot of artistic factors and manifestation models from the traditional popular novel. Taking the legendary revolution history novel as its main concern, this thesis takes the relation between the legendary revolution history novel and the novel about knight-errant as a cut-in to analyze how the leading plots in the traditional popular novel, such as revenge, Knight-errant, and love etc, was inherited by the legendary revolution history novel, and which changes and adaptations were applied in the latter to serve politics and make it the artistic utterance way in the revolution ideology, hereby to reveal the inner relations between the legendary revolution history novel and the novel about knight-errant which was almost extinct in New China.This thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter mainly discusses the possibility and necessity of the study of the legendary revolution history novel from the traditional knight novel and confirms the existence of this fact. The following three chapters start from the three leading plots in the traditional knight novel and analyze the inner relations between it and the legendary revolution history novel. It holds that these predominant plots, such as revenge, Knight-errant and love, have been conversed in the legendary revolution history novel: personal vengeance turns into proletariat revolutionary struggle is considered to be a reasonable and legal revolutionary behavior vital to the existence of the nation; the revolutionary hero is no more a domineering and emotional wild jungle, but an allegiant executor of the party policy with strong proletariat ideology; and the old "hero-beauty" model is turned into the revolutionary combination between the hero and heroine during the revolution cause, which is an important factor to develop the plots, hi the legendary revolution history novel, some artistic factors in the traditional knight novels are rewritten in the main utterance models to make them the artisticutterance way of the revolutionary ideology.
