The Current Situation Of College English Teaching For Minority Nationalities And Its Countermeasures

With the trend of the world' s integration and globalization, English teaching and studying have become more and more important.The English teaching of colleges and universities for minority nationalities has a great effect on the development of minority nationality regions and the whole country as well. However, traditional teaching concepts of English which greatly affect the results of English teaching in college and universities can not meet the demand for foreign talents in minority nationality regions.I take non-professional teaching in Yanbian University as an example and analyze the current situation of English teaching in these areas. Then I proceed to offer some countermeasures about improving the English teaching of colleges and universities in these areas.This essay is composed of five parts. The first part is just an introduction which deals with the purpose, the significance, the main content and my study approaches of this essay. The second part concerns how English has become a world-wide language and its developing process in China. In this part, I also mention the importance of college English teaching in our country and the great effect English teaching has on Yanbian University itself and on this area as well. In the third part, I analyze the current situation of English teaching in Yanbian University according to the elements which affect college English teaching. I also generalize the current advanced teaching administration and the achievements in college English teaching. Then I specify some problems in it and analyze the cause of these problems. In the fourth part, I talkabout the trend of the development of college English teaching and offer some detailed improving countermeasures. At last, I conclude the whole process of writing this essay.We have achieved a lot in the English teaching of Yanbian University, but these still exist many problems, including educational resources (teacher resources and teaching equipment), examination-oriented education and some difficulties students have in learning English. In this essay, I apply many theories of education and psychology to solving these problems, in hopes that my proposals will be used for reference in the developing of college English teaching.
