| This dissertation has 8 chapters and the main contents are described as following:Chapter 1 Introduction: The importance and significance in theory and practice of the research on the development of ancient land market in China is discussed. Based the systematic analysis on the recent achievements of ancient land transaction and market, the idea and method used in this dissertation are promoted. Finally, the features and innovations about this paper are given.Chapter 2 Land system in Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasty and transformation of land relation in China. These three dynasties were the critical period for the appearance and development of the Slave System and the transition from the Slave System into the Feudal System in China. Jingtian land system was popular in this period, and the land was owned by the king and was not permitted to transact. The public and private land were developed following their own rules, and land private ownership appeared. Therefore, reward, lease, compensation, transference and exchange of lands were found in Middle Xizhou.Chapter 3 The social revolution of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period and the historic Premise of the land market sproutThe concept of market is from commodity economy, and it is also a history item. The meaning of this item has multi-explanations: 1) a product of the social labor division; 2) a concept from commodity economy; 3) place for commodity exchange and transaction; 4) a item means both commodity exchange and transaction, and 5) a item covers all commodity circulation. Land market is the place for land transaction and formed by the land ownership transaction. The social revolution of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period provided the historic premises. The revolution of the social productivity and original development of the commodity economy, the tendency of the land private ownership, and the confirm of the land ownership during social reform, are respectively the economic, institutional and legal premises.Chapter 4 The sprout of land market early Xihan DynastyThere are three preconditions for the forming of the land market: firstly, the establishment of the land private ownership; second, the development of the relationship between the commodity and currency; and third, a certain scale of the land transactions. In the 31st year of Qinshihuang (B.C. 216), the government issued a law that the farms were ordered to summit the amount of land occupied by them,which marked the establishment of land private ownership. During the early Xihan Period, due to the implementation of low-taxation policy, the social economy and currency economy developed quickly. At this period, the land transaction and annex were popular. The land market got its sprout preconditions and sprouted.Chapter 5 The slow development forming of the land market from Han to Middle Tang DynastyDuring this period, people can get land through different ways, and the land transaction had not been the main way to occupy land. The land transaction scale was small during this period, because the many institutional limit factors and poverty of most farmers. The frequency and amount of land transaction are limited and the land market development was slow.Chapter 6 The forming and development of land market from Middle Tang to Middle Ming DynastyAfter Middle Tang Dynasty, with the disintegration of the land equalization system, governments did not limit the transaction of land and the complete land private ownership had been established. The land became free commodity since then, and the land transaction became the main way to occupy the land.
