Ruan Ji was an important litterateur in the Wei and Jin Dynasties in Chinese history. The first person who studied the works of Ruan Ji is Zhong Rong, from then on, researchers began to study Ruan Ji and his works from different perspectives and they did have some accomplishments. The study from a cultural aspect on writers and their works is more complete and more objective. This method of research was put into applications only and still recently, wait for improvement. The aim of this paper, by a cultural approach, is to research the value concept of Ruan Ji, his aesthetic ideas and his literacy creation influenced by his value concept.The value concept of Ruan Ji underwent three phases approximately, that is, the phase with the consciousness to make a merit, the phase with the consciousness to be a personage and the phase with the non-secular consciousness supplemented with literary creation consciousness. The value consciousness was influenced by the politics, the ideology and the social mood of that time.Ruan Ji' s value consciousness in different phases influenced his aesthetic ideas. The consciousness to make a merit made him to attach importance to the political function of manners and music. The consciousness to go beyond the society made him to pursue profound and broad-minded beauty. The aesthetic ideas were embodied in his essays.Ruan Ji' s value consciousness in different phases wasalso reflected in his literary creations. And it had impact on his choice of subject matter as well as his unique style and helped Ruan Ji to establish a mature literary view.
