The dissertation Study on the Agricultural Standardization in Ancient China consists six chapters. The main contents are as followings:Chapter I: Introduction Agricultural standardization is an old subject with great significance for contemporary agriculture development Since the birth of human beings, agricultural standardization has accompanied people's life and production activities. To study the agricultural standardization in ancient China, it is necessary to collect, categorize and analyze research data in this field both from home and abroad. After online searching and survey from the National Library and National Agricultural Library, it is found that the study on agricultural standardization in ancient China has never been conducted. The purpose of this dissertation is to systematically study the history of agricultural standards development, and provide references for the exploration of agricultural standards in modern times.The dissertation, based on systematic analysis of the historical data, innovatively described the development of the agricultural standards, the nature of agricultural standards in ancient China and its development pattern. All these are of great help for the understanding of the development laws of agricultural standards and the promotion of the development of agricultural standards in ChinaChapter II Basis of Agricultural Standards The basic theories of agriculturalstandards were expounded in this section, thus provided a theoretic basis for the study of agricultural standards in ancient times. The modern conceptions of agricultural standards and its nature were also described. The connotation and extension of agricultural standards and the basic conceptions of agricultural standards were analysed. The characteristics of agricultural standards and ancient agricultural standards were concluded.Guided by the theories, the dissertation identified specific standards from the available agricultural data, and categorized the standard references and put forward several questions.Chapter III Development of Agricultural Standards in Ancient China In this chapter, important historical events concerning agricultural standards at different stages were analysed. Standards in different periods primarily reflect the general picture of agricultural standards development.Chapter IV Description of the Important Agricultural Standards Achievements about agricultural standards in ancient China were discussed from the aspects of irrigation and water conservancy and ancient agronomical works, respectively. Under the former heading, the technical standards of irrigation projects, such as Dujiangyan, Zhengguoqu, Kanerjing, well irrigation and ditch irrigation, were discussed; For agronomical works, five most influential books, such as The Book of Songs, Annals of Lu, Strategies for the Well-being of the Populace, Agricultural Works of Chen Yong, General Laws for Agricultural Affairs, Works of Wang Zheng-shu, were selected for the study of agricultural standards in ancient China.Chapter V Agricultural Standards System in Ancient Times and Their Development Patterns Based on the study of the collected historical references and the process of agricultural production, the agricultural standards in ancient China were divided into agricultural production standards and supportive service standards. Both of them had many subdivisions. Thus, the scheme of agricultural standards in ancient China was clearly demonstrated.Analysis was conducted to the establishment, practice and amendment processes of the agricultural standards, thus the spiral development process of the standards from affirmation, negation and reaffirmation was exposed.Chapter VI The Upkeep and Development of the Ancient Agricultural Standards Ancient agricultural standards, greatly influenced by sci-tech level, natural environment, social and economic conditions and other factors, assumed the character of intensive cultivation.
