The Study On The Differences And Commons Between Mencius And Zhuangzi

Many researches have been made on the thoughts of Mencius and Zhuangzi, so do the relationship of Confucianism and Taoism. However, there are few comparative studies between Mencius and Zhangzi. Therefore, this thesis puts together Mencius and zhuangzi who are the representatives of Confucianism and Taoism respectively, discriminates their thoughts, and finds the difference and common of their thoughts. Then based on this, the thesis studies the research results of Mencius and Zhuangzi's relationship as a case , so as to find the probability and necessity forming the syncretism and complementarity pattern of Confucianism and Taoism,The thesis chiefly discusses five aspects. First, the origin and value of Mencius and Zhuangzi's thoughts are evaluated. Second, the three important concepts heart , gas and sky including in the thoughts of Mencius and Zhuangzi are explained, and the foundation of their theories is disclosed. Third, the thesis analyzes the program and methods of their theory construction. Fourth, the thesis indicates the final direction of their theory. Fifth, the difference and common relationship of Mencius and Zhuangzi's thoughts together with the relationship of Confucianism and Taoism are concluded.
