The Eastern Miscellaries And The Institutional Propagand Of The Late Qing Dynasty

The constitutional movement of the late Qing Dynasty was one of the most important political reform movement in the early 20th century. Its rise and development was closely related with the constitutional advocators and their public propaganda. As an important constitutional publication, the Eastern Miscellanies had been devoted in the constitutional propaganda just from its beginning, and recorded the whole couse of the constitutional movement with much detailed information. This paper tries to inquire into the constitutional propaganda of the Eastern Miscellanies.This paper contains four parts.Chapter one: the Eastern Miscellanies and its constitutional propaganda survey. It mainly introduces the Eastern Miscellanies' foundation early stage manager and chief editor early stage political tendency and the analysis of the rise of constitutional moverment.Chapter two: analyze the constitutional propaganda contents of the Eastern Miscellanies. There are five aspects in it, that is to say: the propaganda of saving the nation by constitutionism, the propagand of local self-government, the propagand of constitution, the propagand of congress and the propagand of responsible cabinet.The propaganda of saving the nation by constitutionism mainly introduced the property and advantage of constitutionism, and pointed out why the constitutionism can save the country from the internal and diplomatic aspects.The Eastern Miscellanies put emphasis on the local self-government in the early stage. It not only concerned the importance of the local self-government, but also put forward many plans how to carry out it.Constitution . congress and responsible cabinet were regarded as the basic characteristic of the constitutionism. The Eastern Miscellanies not only made great efforts to propagand their difinitions classifications and functions, but also mapped out how to carry out it according to our country's actual situation.Chapter three: tentative analysis the relations between the Eastern Miscellanies government of Qing Dynasty and revolutional advocators.Governemnt of Qing Dynasty, constitutional advocators and revolutional advocators were three major powers in the late Qing political situation. This Chaper tries to analyze the complicated relations between them, in order to deepen the understanding of the Eastern Miscellanies' constitutional propagand.Chaper four: the basic characteristics of the Estern Miscellanies' constitutional propagand.The basic charasteristics of the Eastern Miscellanies' constitutional propagand are as follows: Firstly, it closly keep up with the pulse of present era. Secondly, it tried to intergrate the propagand of the theory with the analysis of the country's actual sitution. Thirdy, it constantly embodied the topic of saving the nation from subjugation and ensure its survival.
