After more than one hundred years of development, psychology is still a subject full of crises for not establishing unique approaches that in conformity with human essence. In the final analysis, the crisis of psychology is the crisis of psychological methodology.Paradigm of fusion of subject and object and paradigm of polarity of subject and object are the two paradigms that appeared already in the history of western psychology. The history of western psychological methodology is actually the history of the contradiction between the two paradigms and the integration of them.It is theoretically and practically important to clarify the connotation, origin, development venation, merit and limitation of the paradigm of fusion of subject and object and to reconstruct the consummate psychological methodology.We mainly investigate paradigm of fusion of subject and object in this paper and consider that paradigm of fusion of subject and object has four essential features: humanistic Weltanschauung, problem-centrism, humanities orientation, non-determinism, intuitionism and holism.Recent development in nature sciences such as physics, ecology, systems theory, etc. basically changed the fundamental principles of methodological scientism, thus accomplished the scientific founding of paradigm of fusion of subject and object. Philosophy thoughts such as hermeneutic, phenomenology, and existentialism, etc. have revealed and criticized the Weltanschauung andmethodology of scientism. They tried to explicate the unique attributes characteristic of humanistic world contrasting to the nature world. And establish research methods congenial to them, thus accomplished the philosophical idea of paradigm of fusion of subject and object. At the same time, common-sense psychologies, religious psychologies and philosophical psychologies, with their unique research method for studying human being, provide the embryonic form of paradigm of fusion of subject and object.There are three clues in the development of paradigm of fusion of subject and object: Paradigm of fusion of subject and object at psychologism level is the non-thorough one. Paradigm of fusion of subject and object at humanism level is the typically representative of paradigm of fusion of subject and object. Paradigm of fusion of subject and object with an integrated horizon is the one towards perfectibility.Paradigm of fusion of subject and object emphasizes the particular essentiality, which differs from that of thing of the research object, i. e. human being and his mentality and actions. It pursues to establish unique approaches that in conformity with human essence so as to provide psychological methodological reconstruction with a reasonable starting point and broadens psychological research area. While at the same time, it ignores the thing-side of human and lacks uniform criterion and consecution, so it has the hidden danger to make psychology unscientific and irrational.Paradigm of fusion of subject and object and paradigm of polarity of subject and object seem like complementary. While the fact is that they both advocate "thing" research methods and bothhold dichotomous research methods. To progress and to construct the fullness of image of human being, psychology should base itself upon human essence, and set up the integrated horizon concerning human being.
