A Survey Into Horkheimer's Critical Marxism

In recent years, with the further study of critical theory of Frankfurt School, the scholars in the theoretical circle are showing more and more concern over Horkhetmer's social critical theory. In order to catch the start of the social critique theory, it is of great significance to understand his social critique theory all-round and objectively. This thesis attempts to make a survey into his theory on the basis of Marxism theory. The first section expounds systematically the putting forward, regulation, development and features of Horkheimer's critical Marxist basic theory. The second part looks back on comments on his social critique theory by Marxist scholars aboard and home.' In part three a new comment and analysis are made on the basis of the previous one, mat is, based on particular social reality at that time, taking Horkheimer philosophical background as the point of departure. This thesis analyses and evaluates dialectically his social critique theory, stresses the critique of his theory and fully affirms its positive theoretical significance. At the same time, this thesis makes a deep analysis of the limitations of his social critique theory.
