Coping is definition which refers to strategies that are used to solve behaviour problems and emotion problems created by motivations in certain events or environment.The study , which investigated with general self-efficacy scale (GSES) ,social support requirement scale (SSRS),interpersonal trust (IT) and a coping style questionnaire,explored the influence of different resources on the coping styles of 1163 aged 19-25 young prisoners and the characteristics of their coping styles.The results were as follows: (1) By comparing with the college and middle school students of the same age ,young male prisoners got a very different result in the tests of self-efficacy .social support, interpersonal trust and coping styles. (2) which regard to the influence extent of coping styles,interpersonal trust is strong , it gets weaker and weaker from social support to self-efficacy. (3) Those with strong feeling of self-efficacy tended to use problem-solving styles.There was evident correlation between objective support, social support and self-efficacy of young prisoners. (4) Social support had influence on coping styles. Prisoners with stronger social support were likely to use problem-solving and support-seeking styles, rather than self-blaming style. (5) Interpersonal trust level had effect on coping styles. Most of those with stronger level of interpersonal trust may have behaviors like self-blaming, fantasy, avoidance and rationalization styles.The level of interpersonal trust should also be mutually related with social support as the social support and its utilization were raised as the level of the level of interpersonal trust rised. (6) Types of the young prisoners were important too : the violent offenders more inclined to use various coping styles (except rationalization and avoidance styles) than the nonviolent ones; the longer the prison term was, the more the offenders may use problem-solving and support-seeking styles; the older prisoners had more possibility to try to use problem-solving and support-seeking styles than the new prisoners. (7) There were significant differences in self-efficacy ,social support , interpersonal trust among various types of the prisoners: The violent offenders had more objective support than the nonviolent ones.The longer the term of imprisonment,the level of interpersonal trust get lower, and the level of objective support was higher. The interpersonal trust of new prisoners was lower than any other.
