Reading is the most fundamental approach to obtain information for children,which can improve the thinking and the growth of mental quality of children. With the development of education,the more attention are being paid to the importance of it,the more regards to the children's reading.The after-class reading materials for children have a large category, relating to art, game, knowledge, and literature etc. But we just find such as cartoons and playing books flooding in the society. Few children put consideration to literature and most are away from it. However the spirits of children need the nutrition of literature, which can bring pure and aesthetic pleasure to children, regard goodness as nicety, persuade people to be kind, and exert a subtle influence on children. Therefore the after-class reading has fallen into an embarrassing situation.The article is talking about the problems in literature materials for children and trying to handle them, including 3 parts.Part I. The result of survey on children's reading shows it's an "unpleasant reading". The reason lies in four points: 1. The media's effects on children and impacts on children's literature. 2. Children are getting away from traditional value of living faith and aesthetic gusto. 3. There's a wide difference between children's aesthetic gusto and children's literature, lacking of classical works. 4. The limitation and effects on children's free reading from families and schools.Part II. It states the particularities of children and children's literature. The need of aesthetic and unique mind makes them eternal readers of children's literature. And the literature ought to be "child-centered", free their minds and remain close to them, which can bring about pleasure. So we should be aware of the connotation of "child-centered" which will be the key to whether or not "pleasant reading" happens.Part III. We must find proper ways based on "child-centered" to solve the problems in after-class reading for children. 1. Writers may produce works based on children and try to improve their readability. 2. Try to make a pleasant reading background and let children dwell in a reading atmosphere. 3. As adults, we should listen to children' voice, respect their dignity and choice and let them enjoy reading.Conclusion: Make a simple prospect over the future'of children's literature. With the efforts from the society, there would be a brand-new and flourish world of children's literature.
