This thesis makes its study on how translation equivalence can be realized to the maximum extent in a discourse translation method. Believing the importance of discourse in translation, this author starts his research from the view of text and text analysis. Providing a detailed analysis of text and text analysis, the author concludes that different languages have different text structure and different textual relevance, thus textual analysis defines the quality of the translation. Then the author turns to the theory of equivalence in translation, to persuade that translation equivalence is the best goal of translation and the realization of it is feasible. The author firmly believes that equivalent-effect translation can be the excellent thought and approach to reproduce the quintessence of the source discourses. With the substantial facts, the paper accomplished an elaborate comparison and contrast in textual analysis between Chinese and English. The certain features of each are sorted out in the paper and the findings tell that the transformation of the textual features can be the helpful guarantee of the equivalence-effect translation. Based on the findings, this paper continues to a thorough investigation on a vast amount of samples in different styles and the corresponding translation strategies are put forward. This paper adopts the research prospect of textual analysis to approach the translation issue. The author would tentatively insist on the feasibility of translation equivalence by probing the textual analysis.
