Energy,environment and climate are closely related to the development,which directly influence the fate and future of mankind and attract world attention.The book,China's Diplomatic View on Energy,Environment and Climate,shows a profound and accurate analysis and discussion of these issues' inner connection on the basis of describing these hot issues respectively to display that energy issue has become the international concern and focus,so energy development and utilization have been a major challenge in future world development.The material of this paper is the new ideas,new policies and overall trends of world energy development in the first part of China's Diplomatic View on Energy,Environment and Climate.Equivalent translation defines that “Translating consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the source language message,first in terms of meaning and secondly in terms of style”(Nida).This translation theory has one major principle--equivalent effect principle.This principle has two major focuses: equivalent principle and effect principle.While the book--China's Diplomatic View on Energy,Environment and Climate is a member of common science texts so it has the ordinary features of Texts for Science and Technology,meanwhile,it also states energy diplomatic strategy which has the basic features of political texts at home and abroad.So translator should pay attention to the functional and stylistic equivalence between source and target texts and make use of the major principle of Equivalence Theory to select proper words,sentences and expressions to accurately and objectively transmit the theme and meaning of source text.The report covers four key parts.The first part describes the characteristics of science and technology translation,including the general features of Texts for Science and Technology,specific characteristics of this text and the translation process.The second part mainly introduces the key principle of Equivalence Theory that is adopted in this report so as to establish theory basis of translation work.The third part,the paper's main ideas and contents,covers language traits and translation problems in source text and the major translation methods and strategies that are implemented.And the last part is translator's thoughts and feelings while translating source text and writing this translation practice report.
