Under the cultural background of the Western civilization aggression and the social background of the unprecedented crisis of Chinese nation, and by the influence of consciousness saving the nation from extinction and Chinese orthodox idea of going into the society, "learning in order to practise"become the main motive force to research during the period of the latter part of Qing dynasty and the initial stage of the Republic of china. The study of Confucian classics lost the main position in former days, became the dependency of history. Under this kind of social psychology and academic trend, the study of The Book of Songs have begun it' s modern transition. In this period, The Book of Songs changed into a kind of reliable historical document, but it did not get too many concern. There wasn't a greater masters who made a study of The Book of Songs specially , but some researches of scholar such as Liao Ping, Zhang-Taiyan, Liu-Shipei have uncovered the sacred veil of the traditional study of The Book of Songs. Wang Guowei directly leaded the research into the road of modernization, and completed the study's inevitable transition from The study of Confucian classics to literature, from tradition to modern.
