The paper makes a detailed summary and research on auxiliary verbs in Dunhuang Bian Wen from aspects of syntactics, semantics and pragmatics. Furthermore the paper compares them with those in Ancient and Modern Chinese to sum up some rules in the development of auxiliary verbs.The auxiliary verbs in Dunhuang Bian Wen have their own characteristics as follows: firstly, auxiliary verbs appear unbalanced distribution; secondly, relatively speaking the basic meaning of auxiliary verbs remains stable but their extended meaning takes place great changes; thirdly,. some auxiliary verbs disappear along with appearance of others. The sentences including auxiliary verbs have also their own features: firstly the quantities and categories of adverbs which modified auxiliary verbs in Dunhuang Bian Wen are complete and various; secondly the form of tag question carries forward that of Ancient Chinese and develops toward that of Modern Chinese.
