Explaining The Painting's Abstract And Expression From The Chinese And The Western Paintings

This thesis aims at discussing the characteristic and essence of the painting's abstract and expression at the angle of the common characters, namely, abstract and expression shared by the Chinese and the Western paintings.The thesis begins with the well-known opinion of Qi Baishi, a famous modern Chinese painter, "It is wonderful between similarity and dissimilarity." and then it relates the conception of the painting's abstract and the expression and the abstract forms of the Chinese and the Western paintings. Meanwhile it-makes a simple comparison between the both sides and leads to the discussion of the characteristic and the essence of the painting' s abstract.The second section of the thesis interprets the specific meaning of the painting's expression, the distinction between expression and expressionism, the expression form of the Chinese painting and the expression language of the western painting, and proves the characteristic and essence of the painting's expression through the similarity and dissimilarity of expression of the both sides.The thesis also attaches emphasis to the section of the abstract and the expression form of the two sides, and relates the two kinds of forms of the expression characteristic in details, thus, is comes to a conclusion on the characteristic and essence of the painting's abstract and expression by comparing and connecting the two forms.
