In psychology, happiness is reaction of life satisfy, or thefeeling about frequency and intensity of positive emotion.Psychologists measure happiness by measuring "subjectivewell-being". They believe that subjective well-being is animportant parameter which reflects individual's living qualityin a society. Locus of control is a opinion which is expounded aiming forfocus of causality, and it is a cognition-knowledge system. Itis affected by knowledge system which is constituted by culturecircumstances, experience, and observation learning. At the sametime, Locus of control also is affected by cognition course whichis influenced by situation. The people who tend to externalcontrol will attribute the result of behavior to externalcircumstances, and the people who tend to internal control willattribute the result of behavior to internal circumstances. Theessay distinct general locus of control from specific locus ofcontrol too, and the distinction testify that the research isfeasible that adopt specific locus of control. The essay distinctlearning achievement and interpersonal relation specificcategory. The researches about relation of subjective well-being andlocus of control have two results. One argues that the people whotend to internal control are happier, but the others think thatthe people who tend to external control are happier. In order to 42get over the contradiction, the research adopts specific locusof control to measure the college students' locus of control. Therefore, based on these researches, the present study hasfirst carried out a survey of subjective well-being and specificlocus of control, then investigated the relations betweensubjective well-being and specific locus of control. 268 collegestudents have participated in this study. The conclusions are asfollows: 1. No remarkable difference between boys and girls, liberalarts and science arts, city and village, only children and nononly children on specific locus of control has been found. 2. No remarkable difference between boys and girls, liberalarts and science arts, city and village, only children and nononly children on subjective well-being has been found. 3. A negative correlation between locus of control whichattribute to failure in learning achievement category andsubjective well-being has been demonstrated in this study, thatis to say that the students who attribute failure to internalcausality is not happy. 4. A negative correlation between locus of control whichattribute to failure in learning achievement category and thefactor that living satisfaction and interest in subjectivewell-being, that is to say that the students who attribute failureto internal causality in learning achievement category is notsatisfied in their livings. A negative correlation betweenlocus of control which attribute to failure in interpersonalrelation category and the factor that living satisfaction and 43interest in subjective well-being, that is to say that thestudents who attribute failure to internal causality ininterpersonal relation category is not satisfied in theirlivings. From the above conclusion, we find that subjective well-beingpartly is affected by locus of control. Owing to locus of controlis considered a kind of focus of causality, it can be changed.Through changing locus of control can improve subjectivewell-being, and make the college students own good mental stateto face prospective challenge.
