With the times of economic knowledge coming and globalization, education is facing a new challenge. Educational reform all over the world is increasingly speeding up. The National Ministry of Education regards project learning as an important part of the reform content of curriculums of junior and senior schools. More and more schools and educators in our country attach importance to project learning and regard it as an important way and media of developing students' enterprising spirit and practical ability. There is no doubt that project learning is one of the highlights of fundamental educational reform at home and abroad. First of all, the present thesis will dwell on the content, goal, characteristics and theoretical base of project learning. In a broad sense, the project learning means students' initiative probe in their learning activities. It is an idea, strategy and method of study. It can be applied to students' learning activities of all subjects. In a narrow sense, the project learning which is regarded as an independent discipline refers to the productive process, in which students can experience knowledge through collecting, analyzing and dealing with information by themselves in the teaching-learning process so that they can understand the society, learn to study , develop the abilities of analyzing and solving the problems and the creative power. The core of curriculum model is to revise students' learning styles. The curriculum model emphasizes students' initiative inquiry in their learning activities, attempting to develop their enterprising spirit and practical ability and implement quality-oriented education. Project learning emphasizes the practical application of the knowledge and skills that students have acquired. Much attention will be paid to the study procedure and students' practice and experiences. The specific goals are: obtaining the experiences of partaking the inquiry personally; developing the ability to develop and solve problems, the ability to collect, analyze and apply information; learning to share and cooperate; cultivating scientific attitudes and spirit;cultivating the commitment to the society. Openness, inquiry and practice are the characteristics of project learning. The project learning is based upon cognitive learning theory and the humanistic learning theory from the angle of scientism and humanisms. The typical operation models as regard to project learning are integration model of receptive study with discovering study put forward by Bruner and structurism model by Osubell, Jean. Piaget, and problem-solving model. The present text will mainly dwell on how the new form of curriculum of project learning can be incorporated into senior English teaching and learning, and how to make it an important part of English fundamental education curriculum. The related problem, with which all the English educators in fundamental education circle of our country are much concerned, will also be discussed in the present text.The English project learning strategy is based on the integrated world of humanistic subjects and science. It emphasizes that the content must be related to students' personal real life and practical field. It breaks the traditional and standardized content of curriculum. It respects and pays attention to the differences among student individuals. It focuses on refining and cultivating students' humanistic emotion. The relationship between students and teachers in project learning is new and cooperative. Teachers need to form a creative and practical educational concept in their enforcement of English project learning, casting away their parochial view of professional knowledge. Teachers should broaden the scope of their own knowledge so as to be versatile and good at both science and literature. In the course of enforcing English project learning, students are encouraged to have confidence in themselves, not to doubt themselves or only to learn book knowledge by heart.
