From the emergence of Chinese character to the period of Xiaozhuan, many of character forms have changed. Jiaguwen is the earliest systematic character known so far. Compared the Jiaguwen affirmed today and Jinwen in the West Zhou Dynasty with the Xiaozhuan, form-changed characters have been observed. It is the target in this paper that we discuss the evolvement of character forms and literal meanings of the form-changed characters, in order to find out something about Xushen's means of explaining words and analyzing character forms, and about the type and pattern of the evolvement of Chinese characters.This paper includes two parts, the first part discusses the evolvement of character forms in SuowenJiezi and Xushen's analysis. The second part discusses the evolvement of the literal meanings and Xushen's explanation.
