One of the sub-category of etymology modern is the study of variants form of Chinese character (su wen zi xue俗文字学),which has largely been ignored, a good study and research paper on popular has been rare. Academic position of popular philology should be improved.The objective of this dissertation is to study the variants form of Chinese character. The study of variants form of Chinese character can be divided into stone tablet, drama script, silk books excavated from earth, copy script, etc. This dissertation is focused on the variants form of Chinese character in the novel created during the Dynasty Qing, and hopefully the study of variants form of Chinese character will no longer be ignored. This work will help draw some attentions from other researchers. In this dissertation, Dream of the Red Chamberhas been chosen.Geng-cheng versions of Dream of the Red Chamber had been chosen. After some reading has been done, some of the Chinese characters had been pick-up and discussed in more details later. The chosen words will be categorized depend on how it evolved and its characteristics. So the whole essay will be well-organized.
