Historical materialism is one of important sources of Jurgen habermas' theory. He declared that Historical materialism viewpoints be acceptable while it must be transformed . He tried to write out a prescription for the crisis of post-capitalism through reconstructing the historical material ism. Many aspects of Historical materialism were transformed by Jurgen habermas. The most important elements of his transformation are elaborated and analyzed in this article. In the theory of Jurgen habermas, the principle of social organization substitutes for Marxism relations of production and a mode of production , communicative action substitutes for product labor, the two-transmitter theory substitutes for one-transmitter theory on the problem of the social development power. Jurgen habermas emphasized an endogenous learning mechanism and set up a new theory, the core being communicative action. In fact, it isn' t reliable that Jurgen habermas criticized that Historical materialism were short of the communicative viewpoints. There are its substantial communicative viewpoints in Historical materialism which is different from Jurgen habermas' s theory.Some problems and limitation of Historical materialism have been pointed out by Jurgen Habermas' his comprehension and transformation, but some of his comprehension and transformation need to be discussed.
