There are already special essays on the spreading of western feminist literary criticism in the Chinese academic circle, but its influence and significance on contemporary Chinese female writing has not been summarized systematically, which is the origin of the thesis. Among the western feminist literary criticism, Cixous's body writing theory has the most obvious and the greatest influence on our country and also arouses the most intense contention. The thesis regards this as the emphasis of discussion and combines macro-vision with deep analysis. In the 1990's, the radical Chinese female writing expectedly aroused the warm contention in the academic circle. There were numerous essays that emerged in all kinds of academic periodicals during the period, in favor of or against the body writing. However, there is still no essay to comment on the important extensive academic contention. The thesis tries to take on the task to summarize the contention. Therefore, the characteristic of the thesis is to expound the author's creative ideas based on the combination of academic summary and comment on the contention. There are many comments on what Chinese female literature is and few comments on what it will be. The thesis connects the retrospect of Chinese female literature with its prospect, proposes it to "take" more English and American feminist consciousness in order to construct Chinese female literature growing with the time and makes plans for Chinese female writing to benefit from French feminism more. Moreover, the thesis expounds the new poetic concept of harmony between male and female that helps to construct Chinese feminist poetics with Chinese characteristics. Finally, the thesis forecasts the inevitable goal of the feminist literature and literary theory: harmony between male and female. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part expounds the influence of French feminist literary criticism on Chinese contemporary female writing. The second part discusses the significance of English and American feminist literary criticism on Chinese contemporary female writing.
