Feminist scholars remained deliberate towards the brand-new literary theory. When it was firstly introduced, more works being introduced and more research done on .Later on, the situation gradually took on a new look. Chinese feminist literary criticism grows up by borrowing the western feminist theory and basing itself upon native literary practice.This article explores the necessity of localization of feminist literary criticism. Growing up in western cultural background, feminist literary criticism was inevitably impressed with some foreign characteristics in theoretical form and moral character. Discrepancy between western and oriental cultural context does not permit complete copy of western theory.The first part of the article generally sorts out the process of feminist literary criticism entering China. The introduction was realized through a large amount of works and interpretation of theory works. Introduction and interpretation of feminist literary criticism could be roughly divided into two stages with 1987 being the boundary. Different stages display different characteristics.In the second part, the specific representation of localization of feminist literary criticism was explored from several respects. The first representation is the production of a large amount of criticism works and articles;the second representation is the influence of feminist literary theories upon feminist writing, especially the body writing in 1990s;thirdly, some typical cases in which western feminist theories are applied to interpret texts of Chinese female writers are taken to be specifically analyzed.The third part analyzes the current situation of feminist literary criticism and brings up a standpoint that when western feminism comes into post-feminism, male should not be treated as enemy of female without exception and the physical and psychological differences between male and female deserve more attention.
