After sound documents research and communicating, it was found that most of the current related works arc about history, art theory and comparison of Chinese and western gardens, which focus on culture; aesthetics, history, the planting technique, construction and even literature. Only a small number of the articles are about designing, but they are always for instruction or teaching. As for academic papers, the papers basing on landscape architecture pay attention on the history, planting technique, while the papers basing on architectures are client to building technique and architecture art. The paper that is basing on garden environmental designing is expected. So the paper aims to sum up the development progress of Chinese garden environmental art components, as well as to provide some inspirations for environmental art designers.The way of researching work is to start with the analysis of basic elements, and then turn to relationship among the elements. The main elements of Chinese garden environmental design are mountains, water, plants and construction.
