This dissertation gives some opinions to the economy and trade text translation. The writer is majored in English of economy and trade during the regular course, and continues learning English in the post school. On the basis of the interest in English for special purpose, especially in the field of economy and trade, the writer chooses the direction of business English text as the research subject. Since the study of English major in the post school has two directions: translation and business English text, the writer extends the research from the angle of translation into the economy and trade English text. The dissertation starts from the nature ascription of translation. The first chapter discusses the two polar sides of translation nature. On one hand is the nature of science. The explanation is separately from the physiological foundation of translation, using Chomsky's "transformational-generative theory" and from the development of machine translation. On the other hand is the artistic nature of translation. Then from the angle of practical application, the first chapter discusses the technical nature of economy and trade text translation. In the writer's opinion, the translation of economy and trade text mainly falls into the category of scientific nature. Then the dissertation goes on to discuss the language features of economy and trade text translation: large number of professional economic vocabulary, long and complex structure, often fixed expression way, and no redundancy. It also summarizes some general skills in the economic and trade text translation: sequence, reverse, division and conversion. Specially for economy and trade text translation there are some principles that translators should always abide by during such kind of translation. The principles include faithfulness, exactness and consistency. In the discussion of each principle there are translation theories such as the opinions of Tytler, Postgate, Tollman. At last the dissertation summarizes some problems existing in the present economy and trade text translation and raises requirements for translators. In the use of reference materials, the writer not only consults the books of different subjects, but also refers to the latest journals of different universities. Moreover, on the basis of the writer's own translation of economic literature, however fairly limited, the writer uses some original economic articles for reference and draws her own experience.
