Lied (also called Art Song), a literature of the art, is un-substitutable by any other music style, since it is resulted from the combination of Poetry and Music. The lyric of a Lied is expressed by the poem which is refine, imaginative and profound moral. The music of a lied is written at the way of exquisiteness.In 19th century, the romantic musicians represented by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, created, developed and enriched the Lied of German-Austria on the foundation of the classic music. Those great men set a landmark in the history of Lied and also indicated the Lied of German-Austria reached at a height of power and splendor.As one of the leaders of Romantic Lied in this era, Schumann succeeded and promoted the lyric songs characterized by Schubert. His acute and intuitionistic discernment on the romantic poetry supported by his exquisite sensibility brought him to exhume the affective annotation of poetry. While assisted by his ability of a pianist, Schumann realistically exhibited the artistic sight of poetry.Schumann's lied, composed by the literature of the lyric and the melody of the music, is unadorned and posy imaginative by ordinary words and fluctuating in tune and tone. He marked the threshold of Piano accompaniment in lied by across the bridge of musical accompaniment and oral singing. Sound like filling rhythm into the Piano solo, Schumann promoted the lied to new era. Thus, whatever in the character of composing, timing of Schumann's lied, it is highly worthy of being researched.Frauenliebe und Leben was one of Schumann's two famous song cycles as well as magnum opus of his lied. After reviewed much papers about Schumann and sang the whole song cycle, I was absorbed into succeeding an entire research onthis song cycle, by titling 'The Singing and Research of Schumann's Song Cycle Frauenliebe und Leben1 in the thesis of my Master degree of Musicology. In this paper, studying at the point of literature, theme, composing character, aesthetic of Frauenliebe und Leben, researcher hopes to reveal the poet's expiration and exquisite of Schumann by expatiating the song, further to penetrate the history and the value of romantic lied of the period of German-Austria in 19th century.Meanwhile, prosperity of formalistic aesthetic in the filed of Music and opera emphasized rather than lied in many musical colleges is also indicating that lied is important in the singing and educating of musical college at the aspect of its art value.This text is composed of six sections. The first section bring forward the feasibility of researching in the form thesis: The Singing and Research of Schumann's Song Cycle Frauenliebe und Leben. In Section II, studying on the literature, theme and composing background of Frauenliebe und Leben is conducted in the depiction of the concepts and developing history of Lied, Song Cycle. Section III analyzes the composing characters of this song cycle. Also basing on the researcher's experiencing in singing this song cycle, this section construes the rhythm, harmonic, structure, accompaniment, lingu-specialty of each song. By discovering the linkages of Frauenliebe und Leben to Literature, Germany ethical tone, piano accompaniment in song cycle, the composing characters of Schumann's lied are manifested in delicateness. In section IV, by comparing to Schubert, Brahms's composing works in the composing by inheriting and developing, Schumann's vocality composing character is further indicated. Section V is focusing on the musical aesthetic congnition and aesthetic value of German-Austria by the standpoint of Aesthetics. At the end of this paper, the value of researching on lied is disclosed through the singing experience and current study level of lied.
