Textual Researches Into Several Problems Of Lu Zhaolin's Lifetime

The thesis has made an investigation on the life of Lu Zhaolin aimed at deducing several problems. It is divided into four chapters according to his main experiences in the lifetime.Chapter one makes an inquiry into Lu's experiences before entering Shu for the first time. It consists of two parts. Part one disserts on Lu's social connections with Qiao Shiwang and relating records of historical documents. By doing so, we can fix the rather exact year of Lu's entrance to Shu. Part two approaches his experiences before entering Shu from three phases such as pursuing studies, official post and working for Prince Deng.Chapter two is to confirm Lu's rather exact year of birth. It can be divided into two. The Lu's rather exact year of birth can be deduced from chapter one in part one. Part two criticizes the other arguments with the purpose to confirm the deduction further in part one.Chapter three disserts on Lu's track during his staying in Shu. It is made up of four parts. Part one is about the texture of his acting as police commanding officer in Xindu County. Part two is concerning his coming and going from Shu to Chang'an. Part three probes into the route of Lu in Shu. Part four is aimed to ascertain if he had served as an envoy across northwest border in Tang Dynasty.Chapter four tries to find out his trace after departing from Shu. It is composed of three parts. Part one refers to his staying in Chang'an. Part two is related to the period of his being confined to bed in mountain forest. Part three investigates the time that he committed suicide by jumping into river.In sum, we can draw eight conclusions from above as follows.First of all, Lu Zhaolin was born in around A.C.637 and died at the age of 51 in A.C.688.Secondly, Lu was always working for Prince Deng from A.C.656 till A.C.660.Thirdly, Lu entered Shu for the first time and undertook the post of police commanding officer.Fourthly, Lu had ever been to Chang'an in A.C.669 and A.C.671 during his residing in Shu.Fifthly, Lu was residing in Chang'an from the winter of A.C.671 to A.C.674 without any official position.Sixly, Lu went into Taibai Mountain in A.C.674.Sevenly, Lu hastened to Luoyang for the funeral of his father in A.C.671 or so. It was before long that he left for Dong Longmen Mountain.Lastly, Lu was falling in ill badly when he wrote a prose called Five Woes. Lu moved to Juci Mountain soon. After completing his works Extricating from Illness in A.C.688, Lu committed suicide.
