Around the debate about capital problems in the early Eastern Han Dynasty, the writings of Jingdu Fu were through the reflection on the problem about the legitimacy of the Eastern Han Dynasty. The writers sought the legitimacy of the basis for Chang'an and Luoyang, with two legitimacy perspectives, which can be summarized as Ruling Orthodoxy and Confucian Orthodoxy.Meanwhile, they also tried to reveal the different symbolic meanings including thrift and luxury, morality and power, between both the two dynasties and the two capitals. The thesis is divided into five chapters:Chapter 1 explores the writing of Chang'an and Ruling Orthodoxy in Duyong Fu.The Fu prominently show the praises for the difficult terrain and fertile land of Chang'an,the Ruling Orthodoxy of the Western Han Dynasty and its pomp.Meanwhile, there form the mutually supportive relationship between geography and politics. These make Chang'an become the symbol of Ruling Orthodoxy.Chapter 2 explores the writing of Luoyang and Confucian Orthodoxy in Duluo Fu.The Fu praise vigorously the Confucian meaning of Luoyang as the centre of the world. The descriptions about the imperial inspection tour reflect the view of under heaven that takes Luoyang as the center. The popular Five Elements thoughts and ideas of Confucian Orthodoxy were combined and impacted on the text appearance of Duluo Fu.There led to a lot of descriptions about previous holy kings and the Confucian etiquette system. These make Luoyang become the symbol of Confucian Orthodoxy.Chapter 3 analyzes writers' deliberation about the legitimacy in Jingdu Fu.In real politics, both Ruling Orthodoxy and Confucian Orthodoxy were in a politically correct position. The writers had to consider the risk of taboos in that case. And it lead to many tortuous expressions in Jingdu Fu.As far as the writers supporting the capital in Luoyang are concerned, the tortuous expressions contained the potential disparagement to Ruling Orthodoxy. They wrote with legitimacy perspective of Confucian Orthodoxy and described the myth of Liu Xiu determined by providence. And the creative purpose is to manifest the legitimacy and virtue of Liu Xiu and the Eastern Han Dynasty more conducively.Chapter 4 analyzes the influence of legitimacy perspectives on time-space structure characteristics of Jingdu Fu text. From the overall view of Jingdu Fu text, both Duyong Fu and Duluo Fu take the time as the clue of the whole series under the influence of legitimacy perspectives and present the Today-Ancient-Today structure.Within the framework of temporal structure, contrary to Duluo Fu,the space description and the transformation of visual angle are relatively fast in Duyong Fu because of the difference between Ruling Orthodoxy and Confucian Orthodoxy.Meanwhile, the description beyond visual threshold about world scene in Duluo Fu and Duyong Fu echo each other two world views.Chapter 5 analyzes writers' individual minds behind the legitimacy writing of Jingdu Fu with the changes in creations of Han Da Fu.The legitimacy writing of both Ban Gu's Liangdu Fu and Zhang Heng's Erjing Fu intentionally aimed to praise or satirize the political situation of the times they lived in.All of these reflect separation, reunion and interaction between the writers' and the emperors' hearts,Confucian Orthodoxy and Ruling Orthodoxy. And these also reflect the writers' mentality of caring about politics and society.
