The present thesis can be divided into four sections.Chapter One: the Prosperity of the scholar Yuefu Poem in the South DynastyAccording to the statistics, we can find that the scholar Yuefu poem and poet enjoy greater ratio among all the poems and poets occurring in the South Dynasty. Furthermore the form of scholar Yuefu poem becomes more delicate and elegant.The following will discuss the prosperous reasons of the scholar Yuefu poem in the South Dynasty. Generally speaking, there are three reasons: (1) the variation of the literary trend, (2) the fondness and advocacy of the personalities, and (3) the emission of new vigor due to the input of fresh nutrition.Chapter Two: the New Appearance of the Scholar Yuefu Poem in the South Dynasty.Owing to the influence of such factors as the peculiar social environment and literary trend, the scholar Yuefu poem comes to form its own characteristics, which can be exemplified as follows:l.the Aspect of Subject Matter(l).The same or similar subject matter occurring in the poems is due to the following reasons: the popularity of the imitation; the briskness of the literary groups; the limitation of life experience; the purpose of learning and reflecting; the requirement of singing and replying; and the intention of striving for fame and profit secretly etc.(2). The subject matter tends to be feminine. Through the table, we can conclude that the feminine poems account for a large part in all the Yuefu poems. Furthermore, the female characters depicted in the scholar Yuefu poems are also various.(3). The subject matters of the old poems are reformed. Of them, there are also poems characterized by "using old bottles to hold new wine". The spokesman of Yuefu poem, Baozhao, is an expert in imitation. From then on, adopting old subject matter to expressing new meaning frequently occurs in the literary history. As the history moved into the period of end of Liang Country and the beginning of Chen Country, there occurred some poems employing Yuefu poem to describe the scene and the object.2.The Aspect of FormThe rapid development of Wusheng and Xiqu brought a direct and deep influence to the creation of the scholar Yuefu poem. They made the Yuefu poem more clear and plain.What's more, the plain and brisk style of the folk song in the south of Yangzi River also affected the production of the ritual song of the South Dynasty and made its form become shorter. And a minor part of the ritual song was sung accompanied by the folk tune.As the appearance of the prosody laws, the men of letters began to use it in the creation of the Yuefu poem and a new form Yuefu poem initiated to come into being. The five-character lushi and seven-character lushi were the major form of manifestation. In this period, the five-character lushi and the seven-character lushi began to run rampant and five-character and seven-character poems of four lines began to take its embryonic form. Under the effort of Baozhao, the seven-character long poem acquired an extraordinary development, which laid the foundation for the long poem in Tang Dynasty.3. the Innovation of the Poem CreationThe subject-matter-imitating Yuefu fell into the strait in Qi and Liang Countries. It was in this period that a new creating method was born, that is, to imitate the old subject matter. The new method brought new chance to and broadened the route for the men of letters in the South Dynasty. It also offered tremendous contribution to the prosperity of the frontier poem in the Countries of Liang and Chen and to the new poem-creating method in Tang Dynasty.Chapter Three: Xiaogang and the New Alteration of the Yuefu Poem in the South DynastyXiaogang was one of the most productive poets in the South Dynasty. As the political ruler as well as the literary leader, his every move could deeply affected the then literary field.
