| The context occupies a vitally important role in communication. Before the 1990s, the linguists usually studied the context from the perspective of a static view. With the introduction of the "dynamic " concept in the 1990s, more importance is gradually attached to the research on "dynamic context". Starting from the "mutual knowledge"-one of the most important dynamic components in context, 1 explained the arise of the dynamic context in real communication. Furthermore, I discussed the interaction between the context construction and verbal communication in two different fields of human communication-the daily conversation and teaching activities. In daily conversation, the expansion of "mutual knowledge" in the course of the communication leads to the continuous change of the context, which requires the corresponding adaptation of the interlocutors' communicative strategies and specific use of language. The means to transmit mutual knowledge is how the context is constructed and changed in the verbal communication. The indirect means are mainly discussed, such as the application of presupposition and the conversational implicature, the intentional control of the direction of communication for certain purposes, etc.As the special forms of communication, the teaching activities in classroom make the best use of controlling the communicative direction for constructing an optimum learning context and fulfilling teaching objectives. The analysis of abundant language materials in daily conversation and teaching activities proved the existence of this interaction. The research findings drawn from the questionnaire reveal some reality in present-day teaching. The differences are stated in the conclusion. |
