A Study On The Thunder God, The Thunder Rites And The Qingwei Sect

Formed in the Song Dynasty ,the Thunder rites is a new type magic arts integrating the Taoism charm and the interior elixirs (neidan),under the new historical circumstance .The main views of my thesis are as follows: firstly ,I argue that the Thunder-worship is the sources of the Thunder rites ; secondly ,the Thunder rites as a effective medium comes into being , by which various Taoism sects get a mutual communication ; thirdly , I believe that the folk religion originated from the Thunder rites ; finally , discipline ,the profound motif ,permeate into the legend about the Thunder God and the Thunder rites . Based on the researches of other Taoism scholars , I strive to interpret the evolution of the Taoism sects from the Song Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty , connecting the Thunder God, the Thunder rites with the Qingwei sect . Besides , I reveal the relationship between the Thunder rites and the society ,by employing the religious theory.
