D.H Lawrence was a great writer in the British modern literature history. He left rich writings for the later generations within the short career of 44 years. But taken a panoramic view of his creative works, his novels should be recommended to take the leading position. His hugest influence to the world literature arena is also his novels. Lawrence's novels are full of philosophical thinking. Actually his entire literature creating process was also his exploring process to the philosophy of life. The creating time of Lawrence's novels was mainly in early 20th century. This was a period of rapid change and turbulence. Wars, disasters, epidemic diseases, economic crisis and so on brought unprecendented sufferings to the world and made the western people puzzled and confused. Some bourgeois theories were popular for a while. All these influenced Lawrence. In the course of acceptance and sublation, Lawrence constantly explored the philosophy of life in his novels. First of all , he revealed the philosophical thesis of the antagonistic relations between reason and intuition with the direct description and symbolizing method first at the beginning of his novel---- in his maiden novel The White Peacock; next, he made philosophical exploration in literature to the antagonistic relations between flesh and spirit in his novel; at last, he explored the antagonistic relations between nature and civilization through description of the character's destiny in the novel. It was based on the exhaustive characters of his exploration to the philosophy of life in The White Peacock, and the later novels took the theme of exploring the philosophy of life. So we shall say The White Peacock showed the embryo of exploring the philosophy of life of Lawrence. Then Lawrence continued his exploration to the thesis of philosophy of life with his subject of sexual love through describing the relations between the Morrell couple and their children in his becoming-famous writing Sons and Lovers. Lawrence prompted the various relations among the people and the society, the society and the nature, the nature and the people, and explored the true essence of philosophy of life from the deep layer of the human nature through artistic descriptions of all sorts of relations mainly among person and person in the three groups of the son and the lover, the son and the parents , the husband and the wife. Third, Lawrence showed exploration of philosophy of life of his "blood consciousness" in focus and the fearless spirit of denying the rational culture entirely in his companion novels The Rainbow and Women in Love. In these two writings, Lawrence no longer let the characters acted in the frame of special social concept and moral system like traditional literature, but thoroughly getting rid of rational model of characterization and narrative arrangement, he let the characters develop unhurriedly under affection state with the rhythm of the natural rhythm of a life itself on the background of the magnificent cosmology and directly revealed the original themselves under the surface of the characters' consciousness, that is the powerful, the forceful, the profound and the magic of the so called "blood consciousness" as well as the bumping and harmonization of the instinct between the both sexes, thus displaying a "brand-new universal life". Fourth, Lady Chatterley's Lover . It is the "Song of Swan" for Lawrence to explore the philosophy of life and the peak writing of his novel art. It is in this novel, Lawrence made painstaking efforts and poured the crystallization of the artistic thinking in all his life to the destiny of the human beings into this writing and also carried the theme of constantly exploring the philosophy of life a step forward in depth. In this writing, he tried hard to build a new paradise. With his pen full of ink he described the sexual love relations between the forest keeper Mellors and Connie with poetic beautiful language without the slightest hesitancy. It showed both of them "rose again" under the g...
