On Abolishment Of Sino-American And Sino-British Unequeal Treaties

Unequal treaties were shackles the big powers forced on Chinese people. Owing to the persistent efforts of all the previous Chinese governments and the striving of all the Chinese people to abolish the unequal treaties, China had gained partly positive results before the Anti-Japanese War, which, however, was only a meager concession of the big powers. The above two countries gradually walked together with China, becoming allies to fight shoulderly with China ; another was that China's national consciousness at war was awakened marvelously, and Chinese people not only wanted to beat heavily back the invasion of Japan, but also determiningly abolished all the unequal treaties imposed to China by the West Big Powers. USA and Britain eyewitnessed the firm determination and unflinching will in the struggles China upholded her own independence and freedom, and they also came to be aware of the great strategic value.
