The Satirical Nature Of Wei Cheng

Wei Cheng is an outstanding full-length satire in the Chinesehistory of literature. This thesis ventures to analyze satirical nature of Wei Cheng from two aspects: satirical thinking and satirical art.The satirical thinking finds expression in the predicament of Fang Hongjian in love affairs and in finding a job. It is here the author tells his satirical view and unhappiness about life from a philosophical angle.The satirical art finds expression in the author's use of metaphor, discussions and description of heroes, thus making Wei Cheng a well-received satire.
