"Well versed", with meaningful and sharp-cut characteristic, is a good aesthetic category and related to the Chinese specific Confucianism and Taoism nearly. As an aesthetic ideal, "well versed" is known by the interpretation of Du Fu's opinion to Yu Xin's writing and Du Fu's poems. Du Fu's works are famous for his powerful, profound and forceful writing style. Therefore, it's only in the Song Dynasty poetry which was advocated in thoughtful, plain writing style that Du Fu's style could be accepted completely. The acceptance and interpretation of Du Fu's "well versed" poems by the Song Dynasty poets is the key for its great development in the Chinese poetics.Since the ancients' sentences about "well versed" are dispersive and many researchers have not studied "well versed" systematically, the research of the Chinese classical aesthetic category of "well versed" is still superficial. By using material about the past dynasties especially the Du Fu's poems and Song Dynasty poetry's interpretation to "well versed", analyzing the poems and literary theories carefully about Du Fu and Song Dynasty poets such as Huang Tingjian and Su Shi who advocated "well versed" greatly, referring to the western hermeneutics and reception theory, combining the research of aesthetic category in the ancientry and modern times, the theory of "Well versed" will be revealed better.Furthermore, Du Fu's profound, forceful poems was merged with Tao Yuanming's serene, naturalness poems for they advocated "well versed" and prosaic way. Study on such a subject would be rather significant to the research of the reason why Tao Yuanming and Du Fu are accepted so widely in the Song Dynasty poetry.
