The reason for literary work to be literary is that it has aesthetic and poetic functions, which is an important mark distinguishing itself from other text styles. Therefore, the expression of artistic images in literary translation is not equivalent to the reproduction of ST forms or the semantic concepts, but the utmost embodiment of artistic effect on the base of content of ST.However, in literary translation, there seems to be a conflict in the perception between writer and translator: poetic writer virtualizes actual life to let reader perceive things and obtain aesthetic effect; while translator is usually information-oriented to facilitate reader's understanding. Therefore, the communicative purpose of literary translators comes into conflict with the aesthetic one of writers. From the perspective of aesthetic of reception, the dissertation concretely analyses the important role of reader in obtaining the literary writer's meaning and aesthetic experience through the interaction between reader and text. As is pointed out, the literary form of works is only a schematic structure, leaving many blanks to wait for reader to fill in and enrich through his creation. The schematic structure can activate his imagery thought to make the artistic images fully synthesized in his mind. Despite the blanks at each level of the schematic structure, the schema perceived by reader is a complete organic whole instead of the adding of different scenes or particulars. The dissertation first gives an introduction to the various approaches to translation equivalence proposed by different translators and makes an evaluation of their strong points and shortcomings, then proposes a new perspective on literary translation equivalence. It brings aesthetics of reception into the evaluation of literary translation works and concretely analyses different literary text styles to study the importance of reader in the evaluation of literary translation works and gives an explanation for the existence of multiple versions. The present study of literary translation works from the reception of reader intends to bring about a new perspective for literary translation evaluation and show full importance of reader in translation study and translation teaching.
