We began to feel the influence of modernism and postmodernism at the beginning of the 21st century in the development of literature and art. Postmodernism originated in fine arts in 1960's. It quickly spread to other fields and touched off a revolution in the fields of literature, music, architecture and philosophy. In the course of the development, modern art saw the changes in art subjects: the breakdown of the image, non-subject and the disappearance of subject image. This essay deals with the first step in the changing of the modern art---Cubism, which many thoupht ended the disappearance of the subject image. This essay falls into four parts: 1. Modern art and its historical development. 2. Modern art and its values and changes. 3. Modern art and its ending. 4. Modern art and the study in non-human area. The first part deals with different stages: from the founder of modern art Cezanne to Cubism revolution; from Dadaism to postmodernism. The second part mainly is about analysis of art and theory of Cubism. It is divided into three sections: the breakdown of image the disappearance of subject and non-subject matter. It also analyzes the avant-garde in Soviet Union and its impact on Europe. The third part emphasizes the linear art of Jackson Pollock ,namely, non-subject image and some abstract artists whose subject images have totally disappeared. The third part also talks about the Kline ' nihilism and Duchamp Marcel's artistic life. The fourth part analyzes the disappearance of subject matter in modern art and the emergence of non-humanism.
