| In recent years, metaphysical poetry has been once again examined and evaluated by academic scholars. As the representative of poets in metaphysical poetry field in Eastern Sin Dynasty, Sun Chuo attracts scholars' attention. However, academic studies haven't done enough to sort out his works and to do research carefully and systematically. Hence, this thesis aims to make it up in this aspect in order to provide some information for further study. The thesis consists of three parts: the first part is preface which introduces at first in brief Sun Chuo's life, his characters and his works, and then the checking work of the thesis, and at last comments on the content and artistic features of his poetry. The second part is the main body, which is collation and annotation of his existing poetry and prose. Based on both Yan Kejun and Lu Qinli's achievements of compiling and revising the works and the thorough examination of the ancient texts such as histories and biographies, reference books with entries arranged in the form of a dictionary or according to subjects, and his poetry and prose, the writer is trying to compile the writings of Sun Chuo that are not found in known books again. It is like that: to select and transcribe the early or comparatively complete text as the original one against which other copies are checked, meanwhile, to apply the traditional exegetical study method to check and annotate his poetry in order to be faithful to the original text and his original ideas. The third part is appendix, including the chronological table of Sun Chuo's important historical events and the collection of appraisal on his poetry and prose. In the table, the writer has done necessary textual research on his life and events according to the existing historical materials and Sun Chun's poetry and prose, trying to avoid irresponsible comments. |
