Fanbing Army (soldiers from ethnic -groups) were minority army composed of various ethnic groups such as Tibetan, Dangxiang, Di, and Huihu as well as. It appeared during the war period of the Song Dynasty and Xia Dynasty. The main activity hands over some places indluding Jingyuan, Huanqing, Qinfeng and later Xi-he-lan-min roads.The Northern Song Dynasty applied basic policies of both punctuating literatis and oppressing marshals and paying militant attention to inner places but not to frontier places, so the strength of regular armies were very weak. But the Liao Dynasty, Xia Dynasty and Jin Dynasty always inroaded north. Heavy military burden ,extravagant consumption and excessive premium and superstitious activities made the Northern Song Dynasy's financy hard. In order to alleviating these problems and keep its regime, the Nouthera Song Dynasty had to recruit Fanbing Army, which was a -low-cost method of keeping soldiers.Because of the special historic situation, the Northern Song Dynasty paid much attention to the establishment of Fanbing Army and formed more Complete Fanbing Army system, which included organization, administration, salary, premium, pension, recruiting, itching words, horse and field system.Fanbing Army played an important role on supporting the central armies against invader and suppressing the rebel and building military town.But it was discriminated by the Northern Song Dynasty in marital system ,name power ,official system and war arrayment. At last, it defuncted all its glorious but pathetic life experience.
