The researchers had not paid great attention to Shen Congwen's literary criticism before the 1990s, and then after it the research results have only generalized the characteristics of his literary criticism, but have not further analyzed the origin cause of formation of his personality feature. This paper tries to analyze the characteristics of Shen Congwen's literary criticism and the cause of them from the angle of intuitive thought. We attempt to probe into the similarities and differences of literary criticism among Shen Congwen, Mao Dun and Li Jianwu from the aspect of the mode of thinking on the basis of the study of characteristics of Shen's literary criticism in order to make an objective appraisal of his contribution to Modern Chinese Literary Criticism and analyze his intuitive criticism's meaning in comparison with the literary criticism nowadays that pays excessive attention to scientific and theorization.The paper is made up of the introduction, text and conclusion.The introduction talks about the research history of Shen's literary criticism briefly and the purpose of this paper.The text mainly focuses on three different parts:The first part focuses on intuition thinking and ShenCongwen's literary criticism. Intuition thinking is an important thinking mode of the literary criticism. Shen Congwen's literary criticism inherited and developed the intuitive characteristics of the ancient literary criticism. The intuition thinking in his literary criticism determined the method of his criticism. It influenced and formed the characteristics of his literary criticism: the emotional, integral, impressionistic and aesthetic etc.The second part probes into the characteristics of Shen Congwen's literary criticism and the cause of them. Shen Congwen was good at experiencing the emotional content of the works with sharp artistic intuition, focused his attention on the writer's creation mental state and emotional expression way of the works. His aesthetic interest changed with his creating psychology and appreciation mentality. His emotional criticism was closely related with his womanlike emotion personality and the edification of Chu Culture. In criticism, Shen Congwen still paid close attention to readers' emotional experience, the affective education from the works.Shen Congwen remained well the characteristics of China's global literary criticism in his literary criticism, grasped the critical objectives' style on the whole, therefore hiscriticism was integral criticism. His integral criticism was influenced by the Chinese traditional thinking distinctly.Shen Congwen's impressionistic criticism was from his feeling and impression of the works. The intuition thinking in his criticism determined his impressionistic criticism. Meanwhile, Shen Congwen adopted many kinds of describing aesthetic impression, which wasn't utilitarian. We think his impressionistic criticism was closely related with his criticism's receiver, his criticism view, writing characteristics and edification of the traditional culture and arts. Besides these, the traditional thinking and Li Jianwu's impressionism criticism influenced Shen Congwen's impressionistic criticism.Shen Congwen's emotional, integral and impressionistic literary criticism and such characteristics were linked closely, which reduced to aesthetic finally. Aesthetic was the focus of his artistic world. In criticism, he was apt to explore the writers' aesthetic pursuits from aesthetic characteristics of the works and the readers' aesthetic experience. Shen thought the poem's beauty was determined by "technique of the words"and "rhythm scheme". He regarded the style of writing as aesthetic standards. Thus his literary criticism succeeded in surmounting the fetters of "political views", "commerce" and "friendship". His aesthetic criticism was connected with Chu Culture and his aesthetic conceptions.The third part talks about comparisons among Shen Congwen, Mao Dun and Li Jianwu's criticism.
