The paper is a study of the historic theme of Doctor Zhivago, written by Boris Pasternak, the Russian writer.The paper consists of five parts. In introduction, it describes the condition of the studies of Doctor Zhivago by Chinese and foreign researchers and major problems about them, and produces the objective of the study which is the historical philosophy of Pasternake in novel. The first chapter is the analysis of historical discourse in Doctor Zhivago. The reflection of the historical destiny of the Russian intellectuals in the novel undoubtedly continues the discussion of intellectuals and revolution on the Russian intelligentsia. The description of revolution in the novel conveys the historical discourse that differs from the Soviet Union official ideology. The historical discourse relate to the relationship of history and Christianity, nature, revolution, people, and the thought of historical progress similar to vegetable growth. The second chapter discusses the necessary spiritual equipment of individual in history that includes love, free personality and life taken as sacrifice. These thoughts are existential philosophy of character in the novel in troubled times, and help them keep personal dignity and intellectual independence. The third chapter is the analysis of the fate of Russian in Doctor Zhivago. The novel is similar to the folktale on the mode of expression, the function of expression could be summarized to be "rescue", and it could analyze the people and expression of the novel with the narrative theory of Prop and actantial model of Greimas. The heroine "lala" symbolizes three kinds of women: wife, lover and sex partner, and three men who fight for her symbolize three kinds of destinies of Russia, and the wild desire of mankind is the cause of Russian tragedy. The paper's epilogue indicated that this novel is not only the individual's surviving philosophy, but also the fable on the historic Russian destiny.
