On Translation Of The Stylistic Deviances Of Post-modern Literary Works

Style translation is a new research field, which brings up a fresh research subject fitting the requirement of the development of the new era. It is the highest level of translation to reconstruct the style of the original text in the target text. It has long been consented about the difficulty of style translation conformably.Since 1950s, post-modern literary works have stirred a storm, which has been sweeping the literary circle. For so many centuries, traditional principles and ideas have rooted in the heart of people, writers have written in the traditional way again and again. Old writing techniques and formats have been used up, which makes them feel at their wits' end. Daring post-modern literary writers have been fed up with the banal writing models, they propose a new model which is anti-greatness and elegance, anti-logocentrism, and anti-traditional writing methods, which surprises the people and attracts their attention at the same time. This thesis is to associate the stylistic deviances of post-modern literary works with style translation.Four forceful relevant translation theories are adopted in the thesis; they are: Cook's discourse deviation theory, Nida's functional equivalence theory, Julia Kresteva's intextuality theory and Derrida's deconstruction theory. The four theories will guide me to analyze the translation practices.All together, the following five stylistic deviances and their translation techniques are to be delved into, they are phonological, lexical, syntactic, graphological, textual, and grammatical deviations.The two translation techniques applied here are literal translation and free translation.
